Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Open Hometime Watch

Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph Open Hometime Watch

In 2008, Montblanc launched their watch model named the Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph. This name is given to acknowledge the guy who created the chronograph for the very first time. Another noteworthy element of the watch is the use of the very first in house Montblanc watch movement in it. That very first model was powered with a Caliber R100 watch movement.

Four years later in 2012, Montblanc came up with an improved version of the watch and named it the Open Hometime model. This new watch design from the firm is a noteworthy upgrade from the original version launched four years back. The watchmaker has not undertaken a large number of upgrades. But, the effect of the smaller changes that are undertaken have resulted in significant improvements in the overall aesthetics of the watch. When it comes to the functionality and features, there is nothing much different between the two watch model versions. But, the new version is using the Caliber R210 movement to power its operation. Besides this, the other major change is in the disc used for creating the second time zone hand. The watch does have some skeletonized parts on its dial. The design of the watch is done more as an upgrade of the R200 watch movement rather than something that is created completely from scratch.

At a diameter of 43 mm, the 2012 version is at the same size as its 2008 predecessor. Both models feature the same shape as well. But, the watchmaker did create a new bracelet to gel perfectly with the model. The earlier version used borrowed bracelets from some other watches from the same stable. They went out with the desire to come up with a new and stylish bracelet for the watch and achieved their goal with ease. The new bracelet is significantly better than the one used on the original Nicolas Rieussec 2008 model. You can choose from either one of the two models; a steel Open Hometime model or from an 18 carrot red gold model.

The see through case back of the watch lets you watch it engaged in time keeping action. This feature was the same as in the original Rieussec model as well. As far as looks are concerned, the R210 watch movement looks pretty much like R200, and is very effective in achieving all the objectives incorporated in to it by the watch maker. One of the things that you will notice about the model is the lack of a running seconds hand. The automatic watch movement has the ability to run continuously for up to 72 hours at a time. The other notable features of the watch are day and night indicator, date function and the ability to display a second time zone.

Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Open Hometime is a high end luxury watch that is going to cost you € 10,690 for purchasing the steel bracelet version. If you opt for the 18 K red gold version it will cost you € 26,500 to purchase it.
